The pre-boudoir panic: We’ve all been there.  

You’re excited and you’ve booked your boudoir appointment…but the moment you put down the phone you have a million questions. WHAT NEXT!?

The first thing you need to know is Kimberly will help you each step of the way and you will receive tips and tricks and how to prepare information prior to your session. Second, confidence is your first key to success. A confident woman is a beautiful woman and Kimberly will help you with confidence throughout your entire experience. And while you might feel like you’re going to botch the whole thing, here’s what you can do to rock your shoot and look like the glam goddess you are.

1. Choose your outfits carefully
Flowy lingerie, like babydoll negligees, may seem gorgeous on the hanger, but when it comes to your photoshoot you should stay as far away from them as possible. Not only can these have an unflattering effect on your body, they’re much harder for your photographer (me) to retouch. If you accidentally bring one, don’t worry, I’ll just be sure to tie it back.

2.  Please Eat Before Your Session
One of the biggest mistakes that women make when they book a boudoir photoshoot is to starve themselves in order to make it ‘work.’ Honey, the only thing you need to make work is your bad-ass bod. You might not think it, but posing is a lot of effort and you’ll be burning calories the whole shoot. Believe me, the last thing you want is to have to end early because your blood sugar drops.

3. You Don’t need to hit the gym 7 days a week or crash diet
You don’t need to start working out five times a day because you scheduled a photoshoot. The real beauty of boudoir is up to the photographer and heavily depends on lighting, angles, and poses. That’s why it’s an art form. Take my advice and avoid the drama; I can make you look better than you would after 6 months in the gym.

Whatever you choose to bring to your photoshoot, remember that boudoir is as much about highlighting your inner beauty as it is your outer. Already Had a (not so great) Boudoir Shoot?- It’s Time to Give It Another Shot.

When you book a boudoir photoshoot, you’re putting a lot of trust into the hands of your photographer. Not only are you entrusting them with your dreams of how your photos will turn out, but it’s taking up a whole lot of courage to show off your sexy self.
If the final images aren’t everything you ever dreamed of, it’s totally fair to be disappointed. You might even feel a little bit betrayed. But don’t let that stop you from trying boudoir again! Whatever the reason for your photos not being everything you wanted, you should give boudoir photography another shot. Here’s why:

1. Experienced hands will always win One of the most common reasons that people find themselves not loving their photography is because the photographer they’ve paired with is under experienced. There’s nothing wrong with getting a fun photoshoot from a photographer who is just starting out, but the rule holds true: You get what you pay for. Make sure you do your research on how long a photographer has been in the industry if you want to get the most out of your shoot.
2. You deserve to have photos you love When it comes down to it, you deserve to have photos you l-o-v-e. A great way to gauge what you’re signing up for is to take a look at the portfolio of the photographer you’re looking to hire. Is she/he consistent in her/his work? Is this the kind of sessions/photos you picture for yourself? Read recommendations, testimonials, and make sure they all line up with what you’re looking for.
3. Getting back on the horse is healthy Remember that initial excitement when you booked your first boudoir session? You can have that again! Throw those terrible photos in the fire if you need to. Nobody needs to know. Getting back in the game is a part of being a healthy, happy, beautiful woman and we’re here to support you along the way.
4. Teamwork makes the dream work At KAP Boudoir we have an amazing team that will make you glow even more than you already do before you even step foot in front of our camera. From makeup to hair, it’s our mission to bring out that inner glow that’s been hidden within. When you’re looking for a new boudoir photographer make sure they’re going to treat you like the goddess you are.
5. Do it for YOU, not for him There’s a myth going around that you should do this for him and that’s BS. Do it for YOU and IF you have a him in your life, let him think it’s for you. But, it should be for YOU and he’s just the bonus. When it comes down to it, boudoir is about YOU feeling beautiful, inside and out.

I hope this blog post finds you doing well and you and your family are safe and healthy. I’m sure a lot of you are juggling multiple roles and responsibilities that you never expected. If you are a parent of a school aged child you are now learning how to homeschool. If you are still working an essential business you are probably working longer and harder hours as well as homeschooling if you are a parent. It certainly is a crazy time right now.

I know how hard emotionally and mentally and even physically this can be for all of you. And myself as a small business owner who has been forced to close, life has definitely thrown a curve ball at us. As the impact of COVID-19 grows my top priority is the well-being of my family, my team and our continued ability to serve our clients. With that said, I just want to share with all of you the steps we are taking in the studio to ensure the safety of everyone.

1. The studio is currently closed thru April 30th, 2020. All of our April sessions have been rescheduled in order to give this chaos time to pass.
2. The studio has been thoroughly disinfected and will be again before re-opening. All wardrobe and bedding has been run through a hot wash and also new bedding has already been purchased.
3. Moving forward we will implement mandatory hand washing once entering the studio.
4. We will be monitoring dates closely and if the “stay at home” order is extended passed April 30th and you have a session coming up within the new timeframe, please know that I will be in touch and we will reschedule your session for a future 2020 date with zero rescheduling fees applied.
5. Myself and Mary Ann along with our families and our hair and makeup artists are all following the social distancing guidelines. We may all be going a little stir crazy, but at least we are safe and healthy.
6. We will continue to keep an eye on the situation and make further adjustments to our action plan if and when necessary. The health and well-being of our clients, team, and community are of utmost importance to us and will continue to be our north star as we navigate the road ahead.
7. In addition to these steps, we will be monitoring the latest information including recommendations from the CDC and World Health Organization and doing our part to stop the spread of this disease. 

I also would just like to let you know that we are still open for future sessions and ladies, I know you’ll need a little me time, a little pampering when this is all said and done. I have never had a boudoir shoot before. Truly wish I didn’t wait until I was 42 to actually get the guts to do it. After 4 pregnancies.
Wanting a boudoir session was sneakily all for myself with the excuse of it was a gift for my husband. As I said I had wanted to do this for so very long time. I once in my almost twenties had a friend take a couple amateur pictures.
I came across Kimberly Ann Photography kind of by accident. I don’t exactly remember if i saw something on Facebook or if I found her by Google.  I was recently familiar with her area I had a few interactions with Kim and felt very comfortable .
I honestly did not know what to expect or how to feel. I mean I’m no model. No experience in front of a camera.  Kimberly knows exactly what looks good how to pose. Every aspect of her work. You can tell she is passionate about what she does absolutely. 
My favorite part of the experience has to be encompassed within the whole experience with the highlight being hair and make up. Kerry is amazing at what she does as well. I looked beautiful and for the first time in a long time i felt beautiful too.

“I’ve gained a good amount of weight recently.  Of course I want to lose it, but I have this man in my life that is always telling me how beautiful I am…I thought maybe this would help me see what he sees.  It did that and more!  I still want to lose the weight, but why not enjoy who you are at all sizes and shapes?  Just because you’re bigger than you once were doesn’t mean that you’re still not beautiful and sexy.  This showed me exactly what I needed to see.  I AM beautiful.  I AM sexy.  It gave me the confidence I was needing to not be so hard on myself about the weight.  That there’s more to life than that, and I am worth it!

The experience was much more than what I expected.  I didn’t realize what an impact those pictures, seeing myself through those photos, would do for my self confidence.  It’s truly one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself!

When Kim showed me 1 picture of my back-side….I couldn’t believe how amazing my ass looked!!!  Eye-opening FOR SURE!

Q: Have you ever done a boudoir shoot before? If yes, how did your shoot with Kimberly compare to your prior experience?

A: No, I had never done a Boudoir photo shoot before this, but so thankful that I decided to!

Q: What was your own personal reason for wanting to have a boudoir session? Was your session a gift for anyone special, or just for yourself? 

A: I definitely did the photo shoot for myself.  I’ve gained weight throughout the years, and needed a boost in self confidence.  This was EXACTLY that!

Q: Why did you choose Kimberly Ann Photography for your boudoir experience? 

A: I chose to work with Kim because I’m a member of her Facebook group and know her from High School.  The photos I’ve seen on that site are AMAZING, and I always try to live my life with the motto – “You Only Live Once!”.

Q: How did your session with Kimberly Ann Photography differ from what you were expecting before entering our studio? 

A: I was a nervous wreck before I got to the studio.  But once I got my hair and makeup done, which I rarely wear much make up at all, my nerves settled down and it started to get exciting!!
