Often times, we as parents, take our kids to get their photos taken from the moment they are born and then typically, it stops when they get a bit “older” until their senior year. Then we get their senior portraits and then probably don’t/won’t do it again until their wedding. In my professional photographer’s opinion, we need to get out of that state of mind and capture those moments. I often hear from moms when I am out at a high school senior session “we have not had so and so’s pictures taken since she/he was 5 years old”. Hmmmm, 5 years old? School aged? This means we settle for the “school photos” every single year. I am not one to turn my nose up at school photos. Well, not really. The reason I personally purchase a school photo of my kids is this… it’s the “same” backdrop, “same” lighting, the “same” pose and the “same” time every year, year after year. I get that photo and put it in the same frame as the previous years photos. Pull out the previous years photos, and am in awe at the changes. However, these school photos are great for that one reason. But, they do not showcase “who” my kids are. Their personalities, their soft or hard side, their gorgeous eyes and they do take images of my kids together. So, with that said and the lecture out of the way (LOL)…. I had a really great time at this session today and it was wonderful meeting this brother and sister. Although their ages are separated by quite a few years and although I only had the opportunity to spend about an hour with them, they seemed very, very close. And, Mr. D is leaving next week for a few months, I am guessing these portraits are going to be very special to all of the family. Anyway D and K, it was wonderful meeting you today and D, I want to wish you the best of luck in you ventures. So, with all that blah, blah, blah said, here is a little sneak peek for you. I hope you and a good time. 🙂 And, while you are visiting my blog, click on the comments link below this post and leave me a comment. I’d love to know what you think. Thank-you, Kimberly

I really like that they were willing to be outside in the snow for their photosession. Really makes these images stand out because of that. Great looking teens!
